The weird turn pro, Part Deux.

C'mon. Everybody was waiting for the other shoe to drop. If there's one thing that one can safely predict about the ongoing PR train wreck that is Sarah Palin, it's that someone somewhere in the biggest small-town in the world that's the state of Alaska has sumtin' more to add.

This is Levi Johnston's post-script to Sarah's big news bomb she dropped last week. Johnston apparently lived with the Palin family after baby Tripp was born.
Johnston, the 19-year-old father of Palin's grandson and ex-fiance of the governor's daughter Bristol, said at a news conference Thursday that he personally had heard Palin discuss the possibility of leaving her state behind to go capitalize off her quick rise to fame. "She had talked about how nice it would be to take some of this money people had been offering us and you know just run with it, say 'forget everything else,'" Johnston said ...

Ah well, at least Levi's still got that cool tattoo to remind him of 2008, right?

More here.

Funny isn't it that just days after Palin's media blitz about how evil the media is for attacking (her) kids, she rips a 19 year-old a new one in the media just for speaking his mind?

As much as I dislike Palin & Co., I don't think that musing about capitalizing on one's sudden notoriety is so terrible, particularly when you're doing it in the privacy of your own home. I imagine and dream of all kinds of things, but it's what I do that counts.

Especially for public figures who, from time to time, are likely to become fed up with unwelcome and sometimes abusive attention (e.g., targeting one's children), day-dreaming of an alternative can be a very human response, even a necessary temporary escape. Doing so out loud, among members of the family, also makes sense to me. My ex-husband and I used to do that all the time, imagining for ourselves alternative futures.
